During and after cancer treatment it is common for patients to experience a variety of emotions such as anxiety, depression, and feelings of despair. Many patients find that talking with family, friends, and healthcare workers ease emotions. Support groups are an excellent source of inspiration and hope for individuals battling cancer and individuals that have survived cancer. Support groups offer effective communication outlets that allow survivors the opportunity to share their feelings, experiences, and determination with others that are experiencing or have experienced the same battle. Many communities offer support groups through churches, women’s groups, and hospitals. In order to find local support groups in your area call the chamber of commerce and see if they have available a list of support groups, the hospital in your area will provide support groups simply call to get a list of dates and times, as well as calling local churches to see if any support groups are available.The internet is an excellent tool for finding local and national support groups.
